Hair removal questions
Method, timing, insurance, and what 'clear' actually means.
If your question is about a specific operation, start at pre-operative clearance. If it is about method, start at laser versus electrolysis.
Frequently asked questions
Is laser the same as electrolysis?
No. Laser offers permanent hair reduction on the right hair and skin. Electrolysis destroys individual follicles and is the method that can be called permanent hair removal. Many surgical-clearance plans use both. See laser versus electrolysis.
When should I start before surgery?
Often many months before a genital reconstruction date. See the timeline. Starting in the last weeks is how dates move.
Can you call laser permanent hair removal?
No. Laser is permanent hair reduction. Electrolysis is the method that may be called permanent hair removal.
Does insurance pay for this?
When electrolysis is required preparation for medically necessary genital surgery, many plans cover it. Cosmetic packages usually do not. See insurance coverage for pre-op electrolysis.
Do you publish before-and-after photos?
Only with a signed HIPAA authorization that names website use, separate from surgical consent. Camera metadata is stripped on re-encode. See the gallery.
How do I book?
Use the hair removal consultation form or call 310-CHRISALYS (310-247-4729). Do not put a member ID, Social Security number, or diagnosis on the public form.
