Top Surgery Cost

Top surgery cost

We do not publish a single number, because double incision, periareolar, keyhole, and augmentation are not the same operation. Here is what a quote actually contains.

The approach

What you are paying for, and what insurance may take

A top surgery quote at Chrisalys is built after we know the technique. FTM chest reconstruction (double incision, periareolar, or keyhole) and MTF breast augmentation have different facility time, implants or grafts, and aftercare. Publishing a range before that exam would be marketing, not a quote.

Every written estimate itemises surgeon fee, anesthesia, facility, implants or grafts if used, surgical garments, and the follow-up visits that belong to the operation. If we recommend staging (for example, a revision of the inframammary fold on another day, or fat grafting after implants settle), that second stage is quoted separately so it does not appear as a surprise.

Insurance: Medi-Cal, LA Care, IEHP, and many private plans cover medically necessary top surgery. Your out-of-pocket is copay, coinsurance, deductible, and anything the plan excludes. We help you start pre-authorization so those numbers are not theoretical. Self-pay patients can review payment plans at financing. We do not invent a cash price on this page.

Procedures

What a quote typically includes

01

Surgeon, anesthesia, and facility

The operating team, the anesthetic, and the accredited surgical setting. Time in the room depends on technique.

02

Implants, grafts, and garments

If your plan uses implants, nipple grafts, or compression garments, they are listed as line items, not buried.

03

Follow-up that belongs to the operation

Early post-op visits tied to this surgery. Later revisions are a separate conversation and a separate quote.

04

Staging, if we recommend it

A second date is quoted on its own. Combining everything on one invoice when the medicine says two operations is how patients get lost.

What to expect

What to expect.

01

Consultation and technique choice

Chest size, skin, nipple position, and goals decide double incision versus periareolar versus keyhole, or implant plane and size.

02

Itemised estimate

You receive a written breakdown. If insurance is involved, we submit and wait for authorization before treating the estimate as final.

03

Insurance or self-pay path

In-network benefits, out-of-pocket, or a self-pay agreement. Financing options: /insurance/financing.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Why is there no price on this page?

Because the operation is not one operation. Technique, facility time, implants, and whether a second stage is planned all change the total. A number without that context is not a quote.

Does insurance usually cover top surgery?

In California, medically necessary top surgery is commonly covered by Medi-Cal, LA Care, IEHP, and many private plans. Pre-authorization and WPATH-aligned letters may still be required. See /insurance/wpath-letters.

What if my plan only covers part of the quote?

We separate covered and uncovered line items. You can pay the remainder, use financing at /insurance/financing, or restage the plan. Nothing is added in the recovery room.

Are revisions included?

Complications we cause are handled as part of care. Aesthetic revisions after healing, or a planned second stage, are quoted separately so you can decide with a clear number.
